Latin Name: Hamamelis Virginiana
Common Name: witch hazel, spotted alder, snapping hazelnut
Description: Used for relaxation, bruised soreness due to poor circulation in veins, ulcers of skin, dark hemorrhages, hemorrhoids, and varicose veins. Symptoms worsen in warm, moist air. Those who may require this remedy may be mentally tired, irritable, and lose train of thought. Also used for depression, nosebleeds, bruising pain due to injury, bloodshot or black eyes, and coughs with phlegm with traces of blood. Additionally, in women, it is used for pain during ovulation, excessive menstrual bleeding, and inflammation of the uterus or ovaries (Lockie 100, Jonas 259).

Common Name: Hahnemann's calcium sulfide
Description: Used for splinter-like pains, excess sweating, foul smelling discharges, and yellow-green pus. This remedy treats boils, abscesses, breast infections, croup, coughs, earaches, sinus infection, sore throat, inflammation of eyelids, sore throat with ear pain upon swallowing, and toothaches. Symptoms are worse in cold air or when touching affected parts. This remedy is useful for people who are easily irritated and depressed (Jonas 259, Lockie 101).

Common Name: goldenseal, orange root, yellow puccoon
Description: Used for symptoms with mucous membranes, such as phlegm, sinus congestion, sore throats, and taste disorders. Also used for stomach conditions where digestion is weak and stomach feels empty even after consumption of food, as well as constipation and weight loss due to degenerative diseases. Symptoms are often better with rest and worse when breathing cold air (Lockie 130).

Common Name: St. John's wort
Description: Used for injuries to nerves, spine, and tailbone, numbness, tingling, and pains. It is commonly used to treat falls, blows, and bruises, injury to extremities, post operative pain, wounds, and insect bites. Symptoms are generally worse with cold and touch (Jonas 259, Lockie 102).

Common Name: St. Ignatius bean
Description: Used for emotional causes, cramps, trembling, spasms, oversensitivity to all stimuli, and pain in small areas. It is commonly used to treat acute emotional problems or grief. Also treats ailments with contradictory symptoms, headaches, and coughs. Symptoms are worse in the morning and better while eating. This remedy may be required by those who frequently sigh, sob uncontrollably, are moody, and high-strung (Jonas 260, Lockie 58).

Common Name: Influenza - 2007-08 Strand
Description: Influenzinum is made each year from the influenza vaccination shot. Here's how it is made, and how we have made it for years. It is in the HPUS (Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States). We take the shot itself and place it in 9 parts water and succuss (25 thumps)- the result is 1x - We then take that 1x, put in 9 parts alcohol and succuss it again and make a 2x (& a 1c). The 3x or 2c are then made separately - 1:9 (x) or 1:99 (c). We continue in this manner up to 30x and 30c (by hand and from the 30c on to the 200c using the Helios potentizing machine).
